Industry Specific ComplianceThe Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on August 04, 2026, issued a circular on a natural disaster affecting four districts of Assam.

The following has been stated:

• It has advised all life, general and health insurers to take immediate measures to expedite insurance claim settlements for policyholders affected by the floods that commenced on July 19, 2026, in the Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat districts of Assam, which have been declared natural disaster areas. Insurers have been directed to appoint senior nodal officers, deploy surveyors and investigators, establish 24x7 helplines, set up dedicated district claims desks, and ensure prompt surveys, interim (on-account) payments, and speedy claim settlements.

• They have also been instructed to promote digital claim submission, simplify documentation requirements, consider life insurance claims without insisting on death certificates where official government records confirm the death, and submit weekly claims reports to IRDAI in the prescribed format to facilitate continuous monitoring of relief measures.
